Hi Blogging Friends!!!
Made this card today, for my club that is next week. I was inspired by a Mary Fish card that she made last month. I really love the color combo of this paper and have just fallen in love with "Island Indigo"
Do you want to make this card? or just use this layout?
Here are the measurements:
Main card base "More Mustard" 5.5 x 4.25
"Island Indigo" piece 4 -1/16 x 5 5/16
Strips of DSP 15/16 x 2 11/16
I just hand cut the strips of Vanilla to fit the words
The color in the DSP is Lucky Limeade, but I only had a few pieces of that paper left so I used Old Olive and I think matches great. I also link up with "52 Card Pick Up" week 42. Its all about making a card every week and sharing it with friends.

I also want share with you about a fire that we had in our Master Bathroom about 2 weeks ago. The fan motor caught fire after midnight, it's a good thing I was up late watching TV in my Bedroom. I heard a funny noise and thought that my son Calvin was up playing around and I yelled out to him to go to bed.... and he said nothing but I could still hear the noise. I got up and as I was going to talk to my son I saw fire dripping like rain from the ceiling and started screaming!!!!! My Husband flew out of bed and went to get the fire extinguisher ..... but guess what!?? it was out in our Garage (we have a detached garage) So I was fighting the fire with wet towels and turning on the shower. The smell of burning plastic was so strong!!! I was chocking. My Husband got there with the fire extinguisher and started putting out the fire and then yelled out to me that he was not going to be able to get it out!!! I then called 911. My Husband was able to get the fire out with fire extinguisher and a big bottle of water that he had to put into the fan vent.
This is what it looked like after the Fire Department was there. They cut the sheet rock away and took out some of the insulation out that was still smoking. The Fire Department was here for almost 2 hours... I think. I got to bed about 4am. We decided not to go to a Hotel because of our Cats, they were so freaked out. When my boys took them out of the house they ran off and they are inside only cats. We did find them about an hour later and my son put them in the car.
The fan that was in our bathroom was manufactured by NuTone, if you want that info.
This is what my bathroom counter looked liked the next day.
So I just wanted to share a few tips with you that I learned.
1. Everyone needs more then one fire extinguisher, three or four would be a good start, kitchen and one in the bathroom or Master bedroom so you can grab it much faster and don't have to go looking for it. One in the garage.
2. My Husband and I both were too busy fighting the fire to call 911, so we have talked to the boys (10 and 14) about next time, my older son will grab the cordless phone and call 911. I think it was 5 to 8 minutes before I called 911, and it took them 7 minutes to get here.
3. Pick a Holiday to change the batteries in the smoke detector, we picked 4th of July. I thought that was a perfect Holiday; fireworks---fire! We have done that every year for the last 9 years.
I just want all my friends to be safe so if you need to make these changes PLEASE DO!!!
We are all doing good, it has been a few crazy weeks!
Thanks for stopping by
Hugs

First of all so sorry to hear about your fire. You were fortunate that you were up and could catch it in time. I need to get a fire extinguisher. Can you believe I don't have even one here but I am going to change that thanks to your information!!!
Love your card. Great colors.
Love your colorful card, Shirley...sorry about your fire.
Love your card! Also, my dad is a fire investigator. He always taught us to change our batteries in the smoke detectors when you change your clocks (spring forward/ fall back)- it really needs to be done twice a year. :) Just an idea! Sorry to hear about that though! Terrible! Glad you are all okay though.
Thx for sharing about the fire, really good tips :)
wow what a story....thanks for sharing great tips. glad you guys are all okay. cute card!
How SCAREY! Glad you got it out!
Oh, Man, Shirley! How scary!!! I'm glad it all turned out OK!!!
Do you know what exactly started the fire???
Thanks for sharing all the tips!!!
And, yes, your card, like always is great!!!
take care!!!
Goodness, that's scary. I'd hate to think what could have happened if you hadn't been awake. I'm glad to hear that you & your family are OK.

Very pretty and colorful card. So sorry to hear about your fire -- what a scary and awful experience. So glad you caught it early and that no one was hurt.
Oh My Shirley how horrible! Been out of the loop but wanted to check on your page! Was looking for a challenge! I adore the card you made though! I hope things are going better for you!
Hey girl! Hope is well! I keep checking in and no new posts.....
