Fall Card with Autumn Accents Bigz Die and My Fire Story

Hi Blogging Friends!!!

Made this card today, for my club that is next week. I was inspired by a Mary Fish card that she made last month. I really love the color combo of this paper and have just fallen in love with "Island Indigo"

Do you want to make this card? or just use this layout?
Here are the measurements:

Main card base "More Mustard" 5.5 x 4.25
"Island Indigo" piece 4 -1/16 x 5 5/16
Strips of DSP 15/16 x 2 11/16
I just hand cut the strips of Vanilla to fit the words

The color in the DSP is Lucky Limeade, but I only had a few pieces of that paper left so I used Old Olive and I think matches great. I also link up with "52 Card Pick Up" week 42. Its all about making a card every week and sharing it with friends.

Stamp Sets:
Grateful Greetings 12pc set 2011-2012 Catalog
Ink and Paper Colors:
More Mustard, Island Indigo, Cajun Craze, Old Olive, Vanilla
Accessories:
Sponge dauber, Antique brads, Hemp thread, Cajun Craze marker
Designer Series Paper:
Orchard Harvest SU Holiday Catalog 2012
Big Shot:
Woodgrain embossing folder, Autumn Accents Bigz die both SU Holiday Catalog 2012

I also want share with you about a fire that we had in our Master Bathroom about 2 weeks ago. The fan motor caught fire after midnight, it's a good thing I was up late watching TV in my Bedroom. I heard a funny noise and thought that my son Calvin was up playing around and I yelled out to him to go to bed.... and he said nothing but I could still hear the noise. I got up and as I was going to talk to my son I saw fire dripping like rain from the ceiling and started screaming!!!!! My Husband flew out of bed and went to get the fire extinguisher ..... but guess what!?? it was out in our Garage (we have a detached garage) So I was fighting the fire with wet towels and turning on the shower. The smell of burning plastic was so strong!!! I was chocking. My Husband got there with the fire extinguisher and started putting out the fire and then yelled out to me that he was not going to be able to get it out!!! I then called 911. My Husband was able to get the fire out with fire extinguisher and a big bottle of water that he had to put into the fan vent.

This is what it looked like after the Fire Department was there. They cut the sheet rock away and took out some of the insulation out that was still smoking. The Fire Department was here for almost 2 hours... I think. I got to bed about 4am. We decided not to go to a Hotel because of our Cats, they were so freaked out. When my boys took them out of the house they ran off and they are inside only cats. We did find them about an hour later and my son put them in the car.

The fan that was in our bathroom was manufactured by NuTone, if you want that info.

This is what my bathroom counter looked liked the next day.

So I just wanted to share a few tips with you that I learned.

1. Everyone needs more then one fire extinguisher, three or four would be a good start, kitchen and one in the bathroom or Master bedroom so you can grab it much faster and don't have to go looking for it. One in the garage.

2. My Husband and I both were too busy fighting the fire to call 911, so we have talked to the boys (10 and 14) about next time, my older son will grab the cordless phone and call 911. I think it was 5 to 8 minutes before I called 911, and it took them 7 minutes to get here.

3. Pick a Holiday to change the batteries in the smoke detector, we picked 4th of July. I thought that was a perfect Holiday; fireworks---fire! We have done that every year for the last 9 years.

I just want all my friends to be safe so if you need to make these changes PLEASE DO!!!

We are all doing good, it has been a few crazy weeks!

Googly Ghouls Card and my Halloween Tree!!!

WOW only 11 days until Halloween!!

I have been working hard on my house decorating like crazy. I had over 25 totes of Halloween stuff and I unpacked them all!!! I just love having Halloween lights all bright and blinking in my house. It just makes me happy, I walk around in the dark and look at them!! LOL I know Crazy Lady!

This card was a lot of fun. I made it for my card club last month. The girls loved it, and what a super cute layout. I think it is an old Mojo Monday layout.

I used cheese cloth to make flower behind the "Treats for Boo". Yes flower, I took a 1 inch strip of the cheese cloth and rolled it then used hot glue to put it in the shape of a flower.

I used black ink and then colored in the pumpkin. I also added crystal effects to the top so it looks like a brad. The bow is also cheese cloth!!!! So COOL!

I got an email today from one of my Blogging friends SherryBee in AZ asking to see my Halloween Tree. So Sherry here it is!!!

I am taking the pictures at night and they did not turn out that clear. This picture shows the lights, white stars and tons of purple lights.

Do you see the little candy corn bear hanging on the wall? I got that at a garage sale this summer for 50 cents! Ahhh its so cute! I also got the pumpkin and cat face ornaments last year at JoAnn's on clearance Reg 3.99 and got them for 70 cents each.

Monster Munches and Tricky Treats Halloween Cards and Madonna!!!

Hi Blogging Friends

Just another Halloween card to share. I made this card for my Stampin Club this last week. Kim found this really cute paper for $1.00 at Walmart, it's "Studio G" with 4-12x12 pieces and 4-8x8 pieces... wow and so cute too!! They also had buttons and ribbon to match the paper all for $1.00. The orange button is from one of the packs.

I had forgot that stampin up had retired the small tag punch, but it works perfect with this stamp set.

Do you want to make this card??? Here are the measurements...

Tangerine Tango- main card 4.25 x 5.5
Black 4 x 5.25
2 Designer Papers 3.75 x 1.5
1 Elegant Eggplant 3.75 x 1.75
1 White 3.75 x 1.5
Scraps of Tangerine tango and White for Tag.

The orange ribbon is from Michael's Craft Store, I got it for 1.99 on sale and it has 10 yards on the spool.

Then Rachel came over with more paper and wanted to make some invites for a friend. So I cut them out and she put them together. The spider is Jolee's boutique. The paper is Recollections "Haunted Estate" both green and purple cards.

The spider web and potion bottle are both Walmart stamps a pack of 4 for 97 cents. The Halloween ribbon is also from Michael's.

The skull is also from Jolee's boutique Halloween collection.

The witch stamp is an oldie but goodie from stampin up, called bitty boos.

Christmas Card made with Snow Festival Owls DSP

Hi Friends!!!

Wanted to show you all the really cute Christmas Card I made for my club. I used the DSP "Snow Festival" from Stampin' Up.

The cute little Owls are images from the DSP, I just used my 1 inch square punch. It was a big hit with the girls.

I got the sketch from Retro Sketches. A really cute one I think. I made it that week but did not get it entered on time for the challenge.

Do any of you know where a good place to find vanilla and white envelopes? (5 3/4 X 4 3/8) I love the SU ones but I need to find them cheaper. I went to Office Max last night and it was 13.00 for 100 and they were only 24# paper (really thin like printer paper). Any Ideas??

Thanks a Latte Card aka Sip by Sip for Retro Sketches Challenge #26

Hi Blogging Friends!!

My friend Deanna loves loves this stamp set and is always borrowing it. So I thought this would be a good choice for a card kit, for our cruise to Alaska. We are leaving this Friday and we are both taking six sets of six cards to make while we are on the cruise so we will come home with 36 cards!! fun fun!

The coffee bean stamp is from the stamp set Like It a Latte.

I love this challenge blog!!! Hop over and check out the Design Teams cards!

I used the Champagne Glimmer paper for the heart.

This is a picture of my desk while I was working on this card. You can see the zippy bag for the card kits next to the two cards that are done. Deanna and I are pre-stamping everything for all of the cards kits so we only have to put them together on the boat.

I used the SU Horizontal Slot punch for the ribbon hole. SU retired that punch a few years ago.

Home is Where the Haunt is Card for WOYWW!! #169

Hi Friends its time for...
What's on Your Workdesk? Wednesday!!

I was up tonight making this Halloween card and thought that I would join in on WOYWW #169. It has been a while since I have join Julia and all her friends... and I have really missed it!!!

If you don't know what WOYWW is... you go to the Stamping Ground and check out all the links to the other blogs and see what they are up to. It includes lots of pictures of peoples Desks and how messy or how neat they are. Now does that sound like fun or what!!!

This is the card I made tonight. I am making some card kits to take on our Cruise to Alaska. My friend Deanna and I are going for one week and leaving this Friday. We are both making six sets of six each.... so we will come home with 36 cards!!

I just added this pink shelf the other day. I found it at the goodwill thrift store for $2.00. I spray painted it this cute pink color!! I just love how it turned out. Plus it holds some of my clear stamp sets.

This is my desk tonight... not to messy. lol

I try to keep a small space clear to stamp on... but most of the time its covered too. I also made the coffee girl cards tonight and have them for another post.

In our card kits for our Alaskan Cruise we pre-stamp everything and will just put them together while on the boat. That way they fit in a zippy bag. You can kind of see the zippy bags in the other photo above this one.

I used glossy paper and ink refills for the background of the houses. I put some foam shaving cream on a paper plate and added drops of ink... put the paper in and Bam!!  Wow they are so cute!!!

Frightening Feline Card with Recollections ~ Night and Fall Paper

64 Days Until Halloween!!!

Just a quick card I did with the new Frightening Feline stamp from Stampin' Up. Plus this is the first card I made with the NEW small scallop circle punch!!! LOVE it! Everyone in my card club bought it just because of this card.

I used Crystal effects on the little cat in the scallop circle. This picture is more true to the color of the card, and is without a flash.

This picture is with a flash and like it because their is no glare on the little cat.

Was not sure what picture to use... so I used both!! lol

The little cat is from the OLD Bitty Boos (one of my Halloween oldies off my stamp wall). The little cat looks like a big brad in person. If you want to see the Halloween stamp wall "Click Here"

Hi Blogging Friends

OMG I did it!!! I Created a Penguin!! Yes this is my own pattern. I seen that Stampin' Royalty was having a Fabric Challenge and I thought this would be the perfect time to design something NEW!

One of my blogging friends emailed me and asked me to make her a Penguin. I had to make the prototype with Halloween fabric... You know how much I LOVE Halloween!

Her name is Witchy Poo!!! lol

I made the hat with black felt and added one of the Jolee Skeletons as a charm that matches the fabric. The next ones I make are going to be out of some of Stampin' Up Fabric. They are going to be so CUTE!
